THE AUTHOR

He earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1972. He retired from the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel and Senior Army Aviator in 1996. He has been a financial planner, and a tractor-trailer road trainer. His first marriage ended after seventeen years in a fatal airplane mishap – his wife and six year-old son were killed. Ten years later a second son was killed in a motorcycle collision. He has been remarried for nearly forty years and has one surviving son from each marriage, and two grandchildren. He and his wife have informally adopted four teen-aged girls and two families. One, a homeless family of six, lived with them for four years. The husband of the other family died suddenly last year at age 50, leaving a widow and two young daughters. He and his wife are members of First Baptist Church, White House, Tennessee.
